About Dr. Laura Cory

BScH, MSc, DC

Dr. Cory earned an honours degree specializing in biology and biochemistry from Queen’s University and a Master’s degree in Medical Genetics from the University of Toronto. An introduction to chiropractic directed a decision to leave the world of basic science to pursue a career with a more patient centred approach to health care. In 1997 Dr Cory graduated from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College where she earned her Doctor of Chiropractic. Throughout her years of practicing, she has participated in a number of continuing education courses including Kinesio Taping, soft tissue techniques, sports injury treatment and prevention, as well as foot mechanic and gait issues. In addition to chiropractic adjustments and mobilization techniques, Dr. Cory prescribes foot orthotics to regulate foot mechanics and normalize gait patterns. She strives to incorporate the knowledge gained through continuing education in order to best serve the needs of her patients. Dr. Cory embraces the integrated approach to health care that exists between all of the health care practitioners at Dundas University Health Clinic.

Dr. Cory spent her first four years of practice on St. Kitts, a small island in the Caribbean. As the only chiropractor in a country underserved by the typical range of medical specialties, her scope of practice was challenging and presented her with a broad range of cases not typically seen by chiropractors in our current health care environment in Toronto. While in St. Kitts, she was on the organizing committee for the St. Kitts ITU Olympic length Triathlon, which attracted pro triathletes from around the world. She also initiated, and was Race Director of the concurrent Junior Triathlon Series. Each year she also trained for the triathlon and competed on the amateur side of the competition, winning it on two separate occasions. Since returning to Toronto, Dr. Cory continues to enjoy physical activity as a regular part of her routine. She is an avid skier, enjoys cycling and running for the joy of it, and believes that movement and physical activity should be apart of everyday for everybody.

Dr. Cory believes that chiropractic care can help people of all ages and physicality’s achieve a more effective level of wellness. One of her biggest pet peeves is hearing people talk about “normal back pain” or ‘normal headaches’. She believes that pain does not have to be tolerated as a normal part of life and that everyone can achieve a ‘normal’ that includes wellness and mobility as part of their everyday life!
